There is a time and place for BLAH.

I know a lot of you are still reeling in shock over our sudden departure but conspiracy theories aside, the new show does take a little getting used to as with all things new. Like how my iphone died and now I have to get used to a new phone. (actually it wasn’t that hard because even though I had state of the art fancy touch phone, I still harboured secret longings for regular nokia no-brainers)
So if you really die-die must listen to radio and you still love the music then give them a fair go. If really cannot tahan then take out your ipod or do like I do, listen to BBC or my children’s CDs. Hey, “The Wheels on The Bus” is VERY uplifting on the way to work okay?? MY personal favourite, “Do You Know The Muffin Man”. Always puts a smile on my face!
But seriously, Joe and I have been consoling each other over bowls of cheng tng and the more we find out about things, the more we see that the puzzle pieces don’t add up. However, because we still are disciples of the Circle of Happiness, we realise it is better to let go and focus on the important things in life.
Like today, I finally got a SINGPASS. Not life-changing, but a rather pleasant experience at Kim Seng CC and found out they have Abacus Class and Recreational Folk Dance class for only $50 a month!
Also, I have A LOT of toilet paper in the house now.
And I finally brought the bag of dry cleaning to…YOU GOT IT, the dry cleaners!
So whilst it sometimes (okay ALL THE TIME) irks me to listen to mediocre radio, I must look into my box of COH and realise, there is a time and place for BLAH. Some people don’t mind BLAH. BLAH is good. BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH…..

Hmmm… my morning updates-
Yesterday morning, driving to work, gave a listen to the “new” morning show… not the same.
Somehow the chemistry is not there, unlike you guys. Haikel sounded so tired. A good TV personality does not automatically qualify you to be a good radio personality.
Tried listening to 987, hey they are actually better than “shake and bake”, now that Danny Ong is gone.
Oh well, still will miss you guys…. driving to work is always lively when you guys are on air….

petrina, you are too nice. lol. i gave the new show a try this morning. i listened hard and also tried to give a chance. heads up to suz, she is REALLY hardworking and is really covering up elliot’s job as well, as best as she could.
disappointingly, sheikh was just.. probably shaking himself off in his chair in front of the mike.
twice, all he said was 3 or 4 sentences and then nothing came. suz was doing most of the talk. and whatever sheikh came up with, it sounded like he took forever to think it up. and he just keeps repeating it over and over again to kill time. his “good morning singapore!” is a pain to listen to coz he tries so hard to be cool and fit his rapper image (although seriously, i dont think he is a rapper. he is just someone who raps some songs.)
whatever it is, im sticking to listening to the car engine roving in the morning. nothing is worth listening on radio in the morning now. ABSOLUTELY nothing.

What do they think they’re doing ? I miss you guys! Sorry to say that my loyalties have changed since you guys went off the air.
I’m still searching for a new morning show to listen to … … No luck so far … … I’m only tuning in to the ‘Married Men’ in the evenings but well only listen to them for an hour or so each day as its time to go home soon after they come on air.

What a sudden twist of events. I thought it was some pranks when I heard news of your departing the station.
I sms into your prog occassionally, feeling like YOU (both) are communicating with ME (us, listeners) rather than just blah blah blah that listeners doesn’t gel to.
If you guys are back on air, I hope to catch you again. I gave up, i tried listening to the new setup but i can’t take it. I rather tune to Mediacorp station or chinese station (which I don’t listen to at all), else rather replay a old CD till it’s all broken down, than to listen to the uncomfortable voice.

I’ve rediscovered 92.4. It is surprisingly good company – very little conversation, music to widen the horizon …
Petrina, don’t get me wrong – I feel for the new DJs, I really do. However, I believe the reason why so many people have chosen to listen to car engines, birds, static, children’s CDs is simple – it’s about standing up for common decency.
And personally, reading all the entries, I feel good knowing that when it comes down to it, Singapore is not the “bo chap” nation that it is sometimes thought to be – there are at least 100,000 people out there who believe in the doing the right thing and in people doing the right thing.
So, while it is unfair to the current DJs for these 100,000 to tune out, it’s not about the quality of the show, but about showing that we believe that people should just do the right thing.

1st thing, i dun like Ms Walker. The 1st and last time I ever written an e-mail to Jamie was in complaint of her program. Which Jamie replied saying it was not so much Ms Walker’s fault but the fact that the ’system malfunctioned’. Ya, right, watever.
2nd thing, i really agree with Bryan somewhere up there. At least he gave them a go, i just couldn’t be bother. There are enough poseurs in the mediacorp stations liao.

Quick question for Petrina & Joe;
How long will you keep updating the blog? It’s the only contact we have now.
In fact, you could start running a show on the blog. Get everyone online around 7 am, run a few competitions, have a chat on topical isses, traffic updates etc.
Or you could get really interactive and set up conference call on VOIP.
You could run a show for 30 – 60 mins. Throw in a bit of advertising.
Thoughts?

i’d remember when i was with the married men earlier this evening, when some lady was the 9th caller for the rice challenge.
then rod popped the qn about her listenin to the ’shake and bake’.
i think there was about a sec of silence or so, before rod and gang quickly filled the void and encourage her to support the morning crew. i’d never forget the hesitation comin from the lady on the line.
since they said that it’d always be a case of comparing joe vs all his co-hosts, we’d give that statement a good run for their money, live up to their views, and compare the current crew with p&j.
sigh, i still feel bad for elliott.
i tuned in for an hour or so, and grimaced at sheikh’s attempts at livenin things up. it’s not gelling.
suddenly, lush is a viable alternative. plus 96.3…

Me quitting was one thing, I would still have actively supported the station and eagerly awaited my return one day. Honestly, I thought Jamie’s announcement on Petrina’s departure was a scam….so I was excitedly waiting for the so called new show…wondering what else P&J have up their sleeves….
I feel like crying on Monday morning…when I realised that it was not a scam …Arggghh..
I gave Shake & Bake a try but after listening for 2 mins…I literally shake my head in disappointment…I knew I had to stock up my CD collection now..
I cannot stand FD’s laughter…n the other radio stations just bore me and it gets annoying when they try too hard to be funny…

I forcefully tune to 91.3fm this morning. After a few mins, i just switch over to 93.8fm (yes, dull, but at least informative than CRAP).
Since Elliot’s appearance on 91.3fm, I can only sense the opportunity given to him by J&P, teasing him(remb “keeping things sexy in 2007″), letting him have some voice during their program, etc. Can’t say the same towards attention hungry Suz (Elliot was doing nothing but news and traffic).
Joe & Petrina, if there’s some ways you guys are going to do a part time DJing over the net, I believe we will be happy to just have mere couple of hours of you guys each day.
I know too, that you guys are worth more than e few hours on air.
From the way they treated you (Joe), i wonder when is Rod Monterio’s turn to be given the boot (of cos, some politics or scam may be involved in your case).

to give due credit to suz walker, i believe she is eager to make the show work and thats why she is talking so much to help cover the otherwise void of silence when sheikh dont talk. i doubt she is attention grabbing. she is just trying very hard to make it work. but sadly, yea it doesnt work. and poor elliot, they should have kicked him out with pet and joe, coz simply, he is like a white elephant, making him read news and traffic only. WHAT A WASTE! remember all the bantering between pet joe and him? and all the crap they always create? and funpolls and stuff? and even calling on the spirit of pet when pet was away?

Totally agree that the Shake and Bake show is so boring. Especially the horrible voice from that Sheikh, it makes me sick. Joe And Petrina I miss you so much. Just wish i could turn back time and salvage the situation. But I can hear Suzanne is trying her very best to produce a good morning show.. The programme director is simply dumb to let both of you leave. I actually followed 91.3 from WKRZ till now. So far mornings were great on 91.3, then suddenly it change to Radio. It became even more memorable because of Joe and Petrina. Love your beautiful and sweet voices..

Yo i have been trying out 1003 the cheena station for past 2 days…its quite good…but farnee thing is these guys just chat away like in kopitiam, like not much songs in the whole morning show….not that i care anyway cause their banter is quite farnee and witty…..but thing is 1003 also under SPH right?? different program director??
cause i somehow have the impresssion Joe kena pocked cause one of managemnet’s complaints is they want more music & less banter,….alamak in that case Joe you must start learning cheena and transfer over to cheena station lah!!!..there really can talk cock whole day long!!!
dun say i dun give you kangtau, fastest way to learn cheena is in this ktv along lorong 35 geylang….so many cheena gals there all blah blah blah in their rapid fire mandarin…this is where i hone my cheena language to the point where i now…ahem….am able to enjoy a cheena station like 1003…

Tried giving Shake n Bake a shot this morning but had to switch station in less than a minute. It is just different. To be fair, they are not my cup of tea but I suppose they wud appeal to a certain segment. But the issue that the station`s management shud be concerned is how big is this segment in order to bring in the advertising dollar??
I`m now just waiting for Rod to make his move to the next station.

Right, I am not alone in thinking that you should start a show on the internet.
See? Others suggested it too. As there are 100,000 people potentially who want to listen to you enough to write on the blog, there must be multiples of that who feel the same and simply don’t know where to find the blog (or even the iinternet for that matter).
So, why not give it a shot?? You’ve got the audience, you’ve got the talent and you would definately get advertising revenue so what more do you need?

one more comfort for you… this morning i was tuned in to the S&B show, since i need to assess how it’s gonna go… when my wife shot out and changed the channel, and asked me not to support such a lousy station, considerin what they did to you all.
considerin how i had fought with her in the beginning (ard 06 – 07) for the channel (it was JoeA vs HossanL then), it’s a great indirect compliment. she enjoyed the stuff both of you dished out over the last few months…

I’ve tried to keep an open mind about the new show but after 5 mins of what seemed like mindless chatter, I just had to switch stations. Only trouble is, there aren’t any other morning show really worth listening to now! So had to resort to stocking more CDs in the car to make the drive to work bearable.
In support of you 2, I had also removed the car decal like Petrina. The married men are now the only reason left to listen to 91.3. If they get canned like your wonderful show (keeping fingers crossed that they won’t), I’m definitely deleting 91.3 from my radio’s pre-programmed channel!

It seems to me that Mr know-it-all (exboss) has it all pre-planned. I’m sorry Joe, but perhaps he wanted you out all along…so when Petrina left, it just seemed like a good opportunity to take you off the show.
For all you know, Elliott may be the next to go. Afterall, he is the last member of the morning show with P&J. Think abt it…
Joe went on a break and came back with a rude shock. Elliott is now serving the army, what do you think will happen when he’s back?

Since last week, I have stopped tuning in to FM 91.3. It was such a disbelief not being able to hear the chirpy Petrina and the eloquent Joe in the morning show.
Right now, I’ve switched to listening MP3 songs on my mobile receiver than tuning to the air. Honestly, the pull factor is not as strong.
The last few things I could remember about the show are the Rice Challenge and the Mother Day’s Pendant Giveaway.
Although Joe suggested to stay away from any conspiracy theory, I can’t help to feel that the SPH organisation (which 91.3 belongs to) is facing some pressure from corporate companies, e.g. recall that Petrina actually tried to persuade the manager of the jewellery to supply a second gift.

It’ll be like a little audio clips maybe pre-recorded? Since everyone’s into audio devices, come here download or listen in via this website?
Feel free to include daily news, way of the world or plain talk cock sing song. Of course the interactive part might be a little tricky … live web cam? live phone in? some kind of live chat like IRC or what not? Put in a few games and get the sponsers involved. Put in your children to good use by asking them to do voice overs?
Perhaps you guys just list out your requirements and what you need, the people here might spread the word and sourcing it might be easier?
Hardware? software? programming? Capital??

its said that the producers of the station want to move in a different direction with the new pairing…
but with this new pairing, it seems that the station is targeting younger listeners which leave listeners in the 30 something onwards group left out….
i now listen to other stations in the mornings…
maybe just one listener gone does not make a difference…i dunno…sigh

Hi Joe and Pet,
Read an article in the Straits Times today about Rediffusion. Actually I thought they closed shop long long ago.
They also mentioned that only $10k is needed to stard a new show.
Am sure Joe and Pet can pool in to start your show in Rediffusion.
We will then all support by subscribing to this only $16 per month….can lah. No more blah…blah…blah!

Tuned in to the show this AM for a short while. The slogan used to be Never more than 2 ads.
The new slogan is More music less talking.
Can`t measure say can`t measure up lah. This is not politics okay, need to cover up or give excuses here and there.

this has to be the most frustrating morning ever.
tune here and there to try and listen to other radio stations…but…all lasted less than 1 min.what’s worse is, either it’s all nonsensical babbling, or radio ads.
in the end?decided to tune to 93.8 to catch up on news.well, at least, it’s better than some stations who kong jiao way (bird chirps).
get your asses back on air i say, pet and joe.

Sigh.
Since most people say that we need to give the new show a try – i’ve been trying.
It’s been 5 days. Everyday I keep it on from 9 to 10am… When the music plays – volume is up, when the talking starts – I try and listen but honestly – it’s grating. I turn the volume down. How long more do the powers that be want to alienate their listeners by NOT doing the right thing? What an irony – a radio station that expects listeners to listen to them but does not in turn ‘listen’ to the ones who put the money in their pockets.
Seriously – the only real show that is going on now is Rod and the Married Men.
