First up, I want to say thanks to my fiercely loyal partner on the radio Petrina for her friendship and support throughout all this. Like a chihuahua baring its little teeth and yelping its you-got-to-be-kidding-me bark at anyone who dares to get too close, she’s had my back. (And I am NOT referring to her as a little *****).
It makes me miss doing the show even more. Not many people will ever be able to tell their grandkids that what they had to do for a living was to talk-cock-sing-song with their best friend for 4-5 hours a day.
Next of course, a HUGE thank you to YOU, the listener without which our shows would only be psychotic presentations to no one. With you, they were psychotic presentations for an actual AUDIENCE! Please stand up… it’s my turn to applaud you.
It seems that almost everyone who’s been in touch with me has had the same 3 questions for me… So I hope this helps.
1. How are you?
I have actually been very well thanks. As the title of the post suggests, I have been very much at peace with what happened. I guess the old “Circle of Happiness” has worked a little of its magic on me. I have also been busier than I was before I got fired. Recordings for animations, commercials and corporate videos. Could be all the press I’ve been getting.
2. What happened?
The next question is the big one. I really don’t know what happened. One week I was dealing with having to go on after hearing that my best radio partner by far (with apologies to all the others before) had finally decided that she could not take the strain of doing the morning show any more in combination with all the other responsibilities she had as a mother, wife and series director at Peach Blossom Media.
Next, I was trying to put together another show. And then when I came in for a meeting about the show, where I was sat down and told any show with me would invariably be compared to Petrina and Joe – and so to avoid that all together, I wasn’t going to be a part of it as they made a fresh new start. A decision that apparently had been discussed with other members of management.
Sometimes I’m asked, “What REALLY happened?” And I always reply the same way… I will not speculate how that decision was made…
And of course the last question is…
3. What’s next?
Well for one, I have hired an assistant. He helps me market my show hosting services to event organizers and corporate clients. If you’d like you can drop him a line at chris@joeaugustin.com to make an enquiry.
Also, we WILL do a goodbye show (yes, Petrina, we got to work together on a show… but it cannot be in my super small cupboard studio). And to make sure you get to hear it, come back soon. I don’t how we will manage it, but we will get that show to you. Tell your friends who might care. 
And finally… yes, I am working to get back on radio. The rumours have already been flying about this one. Some people have gone as far as to congratulate me on bouncing back. Unfortunately, I really can’t say anything about this. Not because I am not allowed to, but simply because nothing that has been confirmed and that would be almost as bad as speculating.

ah… good. tt’s as much as i can say. let the rest fill in the blanks.
about the show. anywhere also can. i think spontaneity can be created anywhere. no one’s gonna expect super sound proof studio etc, just that warm jovial sounds will make up for everything.
vodcast are also well accepted. heh. and petrina can take the chance to show off her kids.
and, yeah, work on getting back on the waves, one thing at a time tho. 2 years on, something that’s tried and proven, it’s time to move on to some new things, maybe finetuned from the past.. the crowd will anticipate.

So will the farewell show be in the form of a PODCAST?
Think Mr Brown could let his studio for the recording.
Anyway, PODCASTING might be a good idea moving forward. No need for a daily, full length show. Maybe just once a week. That way, Petrina can still have the time for her priorities and you both can still be heard by fans all over, even in Zimbabwe! (If there’s an internet connection.)
And we can always listen to your antics over and over again.

Hey Petrina and Joe,
Just wanted to drop a note to show my appreciation for the great morning entertainment that you have provided all this time. I’ve been an ardent listener, together with my girlfriend, and we’d sometimes just talk about your show at night when we get off work and laugh at all the silly jokes that have been told, or the ridiculous games that have been played. Mornings were great then!
I’ve stopped listening to 91.3 altogether, partly because the morning show isn’t as entertaining as it used to be, but mostly because I think what they’ve done is simply unacceptable. Whatever differences there may be, it’s a simple matter of respect to at least end off a working relationship in a cordial manner.
So to Petrina and Joe, all the best in your future endeavours. Your talents are sorely missed!
p.s. My girlfriend and I sing in an a cappella group called Vocaluptuous. Maybe we’ll get the opportunity to meet in some private events that you’re hosting in future!

Joe oh Joe…..my mornings has never been the same since you two “clowns” are no longer on air.
I always enjoyed the silly games you played with your callers (although at times I wished you scolded the callers for being so stupid).
Anyhow, I have this feeling that you’ll be back on air this Monday with some twist…keeping my eyes, fingers, toes, arms and legs crossed!

Petrina – as a mother of 2 myself (my girls are 6 & 3), I salute your decision on having a better work-life balance. I admire your ability to multi-task, and of course your sense of humour and professionalism whenever I hear your show. This whole episode is just buffling…
Joe – you have my full support!! I am really glad many other doors have opened for you. Perhaps this may be a blessing in disguise; there are many more exciting and rewarding opportunities awaiting you! Thanks yet again for agreeing to be a panel member at the Forum on “Preparing My Child For Primary One” at MOE ExCEL Fest 2008 (www.excelfest.com). Although the morning shows will never be the same without you and Petrina, (I wouldn’t know coz Ive stopped listening right after this incident!!) I wish you and Petrina all the best in whatever you guys do! Im going miss you guys! All the silly games and jokes in the morning helped me to get through sucky days at work! keep us updated !

Joe (and P) – miss you guys so much. Turned the radio on for 5 mins this morning and I HAD to turn it off. Silence is better than this… really missing Joe’s witty banter and the chemistry between all of you…

PS: I called in to your station once about a couple of months ago at 6-7am or so raving about how perfect the show is and please not to change anything. I never did collect my fun bag but honestly there is no appeal there anymore…

Miss u guys so much! Our morning is not the same w/o u guys! Not waking up to ur laughter and smart comments that make our brain start working though we are in a sub consicous mood. Journey on ECP to work today is like a snail ride, switching from station to station.. the word to describe that.. HOMELESS!! LOSS OF SENSE OF BELONGING! Had to switch to a malaysian channel with just songs and no DJ.. Absolute diaster! I truly believe the rating published is NONSENSE! U guys ROCK!
Petrina – As much as we miss you, i admire your strength and courage and a will not swayed by the material world that we live in today.. Good on you and i am sure you will make an excellent mum!
Joe – Dun keep us waiting for too long! Absence make the heart grow fonder!

Petrina. I want you to know that I’ve been reduced to listening to 93.3 in the mornings now. It’s all your fault. But then anything, anything is better than what 91.3 and 95 put out in the A.M slot.

well, let’s see. i plug my ears with my own music now. and listen to news radio 93.8. if i can’t be entertained, the next best thing is to keep informed eh. hero to zero. how unexciting can morning radio be? a bit hard to have that great start in the morning to make light of a stressful day ahead.
miss you both, but petrina’s always right, so she must be doing the right thing

Hey Jaz, while I know it’s easy to point the finger at Petrina as the one who “did it”… I think you have to agree that most of the stuff that happened after was not her doing.
Anyway, if you are wondering… I really do not hold anything against her. I am grateful for the time we had together as a radio team. I always knew she would have to go back to what she had to do. She said so at the start.

mornings just aren’t the same without you guys…. listening to the morning show was the only perk i looked forward to on the very torturous way to work…. no shows will ever top yours and nothings gonna calm this savage beast in the mornings anymore…. =(
